What You'll Do:

• Conduct independent and collaborative research activities under the mentorship of Dr. Mustafa Bashir and affiliated faculty mentors.
• Perform chart reviews and collect research data to support ongoing imaging studies.
• Analyze medical imaging datasets, including image segmentation and interpretation for research applications.
• Apply advanced computational techniques, including machine learning and deep learning methodologies, to medical image analysis projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Duke University and Duke Health on a range of innovative research initiatives.
• Contribute to scientific publications, presentations, and dissemination of research findings.
• Support research administration and other project-related responsibilities as needed.
• Participate in a scholarly environment designed to prepare fellows for independent academic and research careers.

What You'll Bring:

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field, or an equivalent doctoral degree (such as Sc.D., M.D., or D.V.M.).
• Demonstrated interest in medical imaging research and quantitative image analysis.
• Ability to conduct independent research while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and scientific communication skills.

Additional Requirements

• Candidates with degrees earned outside the United States may be required to provide proof of degree equivalency.
• Candidates who have completed all doctoral degree requirements but whose degree has not yet been formally conferred may provide documentation verifying completion and anticipated conferral date.

Postdoctoral Appointment Expectations

• Appointment is intended as preparation for a full-time academic or research career.
• Position involves substantially full-time research and scholarly activities and may include teaching responsibilities.
• Fellow will work under the supervision of Duke faculty mentors while maintaining the academic freedom and expectation to publish research findings.
• Initial appointment is one year, with potential renewal based on performance and available funding.
• Standard postdoctoral appointment terms and eligibility requirements established by Duke University apply.
